Gentlemen, if you’ve been wanting to overhaul your wardrobe, look no further than the new Dior Essentials men’s line. It’s the perfect place to start if you’re looking to either start curating your wardrobe, or just to add a few statement pieces that will—literally and figuratively—stand the test of time.
Creative Director Kim Jones takes it back to basics for the Essentials collections, forgoing his recent edgy looks and splashes of colour for a collection that’s utterly wearable in almost any situation.
Consisting of sport coats, leather jackets, denim and basic tops, the Essentials might be considered minimalist were it not for the subtle details that exist throughout the collection. Aside from the fabrics (plush cashmere and virgin wool, nothing less from the French house), expect to see the ubiquitous Dior oblique monogram, the Dior cipher, and some embroidered bees peppered throughout the collection. And they all come in a very chic, pared-back palette of black-white-navy, taking one effortlessly from morning till night.
Puffer jackets and leather bombers are balanced out by sharply tailored overcoats and structured jackets. Likewise, casual options like polo shirts, shorts and denim pieces are on offer beside more formal looks.
Additionally, the collection also offers up accessories like shoes (high-top sneakers, leather boots), bags (jacquard pouches, calfskin duffle bags and wallets), as well as sterling silver cufflinks.
More pieces will be gradually added to the Essentials collection, says the brand. Dior is aware that wardrobes are, after all, ever-evolving creatures.
