This was an evening worth jiving to. The annual ball hosted nearly 500 high society and medical industry guests on 17 August, and collected over $1million in support of Dover Park Hospice.
Guests swayed to the jazz performances over a four-course dinner at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, where the fund raised helps to support Dover Park Hospice Inpatient, Home Care, and its new Day Care programmes. In his opening address, Chairman of Dover Park Hospice Robert Chew shared about the hospice’s expansion plans to meet the growing demands for palliative care services as Singapore’s population ages rapidly. “As we prepare for our move to the Integrated Care Hub at HealthCity Novena in 2021, we are working towards doubling our inpatient capacity.” Home and day care services are also being expanded.
Besides having canvassed for table sponsors, there was a silent auction with items including a yellow diamond bracelet by The Canary Diamond and a 39-year-old Port Ellen single malt whisky donated by Diageo Rare and Exceptional. The attendees included guest-of-honour Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Health, and they enjoyed an enthusiastic repertoire of dances by volunteers as well as songs by songbird Jacintha Abisheganaden and Chairman of Eu Yan Sang International, Richard Eu.
