5 Spots To Dine At On Mother’s Day

Still haven’t made up your mind where to go tomorrow? We’ve got you covered for brunch, lunch, tea and dinner — here’s a round-up of the tastiest options available on Mother’s Day.

01 | Marina Bay Sands

With this many good options, it’d be tough to pick just one. Start with the Mother’s Day edition of Lavo’s Sunday Champagne Brunch, which features Italian-American fare, from braised veal shanks to risotto Milanese, accompanied by free-flow Veuve Clicquot. While away the afternoon with Black Tap’s limited-time cocktail, the Raspberry Vodka Macchiato. Then, head to Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay for a three-course dinner, headlined by the restaurant’s signature beef fillet Wellington.

Available for Mother’s Day are a four-course dinner and an afternoon tea. The former comprises tender blanched octopus, creamy duck risotto, crispy pan-seared sea bass or hearty gnocchi, and a delicate green tea cake. The latter features velvet cheese mousse, almond torte, chocolate hazelnut eclairs, tartlets topped with foie gras and pistachio, and the pièce de résistance, the apple and rosemary tart.

03 | Fat Cow

For the mum who appreciates quality beef, look no further than this wagyu specialist spot for the heartiest lunch there is. The set menu comprises spectacular highlights such as the well-seasoned and exquisitely marbled Miyazaki wagyu steak and the freshest sashimi moriawase, and accompanied by a medley of lightly steamed premium vegetables, the restaurant’s ever-popular tempura moriawasa, a silky chawanmushi, and burnt Basque cheesecake with sorbet for dessert. And let’s not forget the Fat Cow signature, Fat Rice, an indulgent bowl of Japanese grain coated with rendered beef fat, dried kelp and truffle oil.

For diners who prefer to tuck into a feast but in the comfort of their own home, Fat Cow offers ready-to-cook premium wagyu sets for takeaway or delivery. Pick between shabu shabu, sukiyaki and yakiniku sets and savour the likes of Himeiji A5 wagyu ribeye, Toriyama A4 wagyu tenderloin and Miyazaki A4 wagyu striploin.

How about treating Mum to a class meal with a view? Admiring the downtown skyline while digging into fusion cuisine will definitely be a memorable experience. The four-course Mother’s Day menu at VUE comprises choice dishes such as Maryland-style crab cake, Spanish Alfonsino kinmedai tataki, pan-seared foie gras, uni risotto, grilled Maine lobster tail, Kumamoto A5 black wagyu sirloin.

If by some chance that isn’t enough to impress your mother, dessert will surely do the trick — take your pick among frozen cherry meringue, molten chocolate tart, French acacia honey cake and Shizuoka musk melon.

For mothers who prefer homestyle Chinese food, one can’t go wrong with the Taiwan porridge à la carte buffet at Coffee Lounge. The recently refreshed menu features eight new additions, including braised Mapo tofu with minced pork, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and stir-fried diced chicken with cereal. Existing menu items are nothing to sniff at, though. Wok-fried sambal prawns, fried omelette with minced pork, and stir-fried sweet and sour sliced fish are all execellent picks.
