Razer CEO Tan Min Liang Is Gunning For Green With A Limited Edition Panerai Watch

Dressed in his signature black T-shirt and jeans, co-founder and CEO of Razer, Tan Min Liang delivered his keynote address at RazerCon 2021, the first ever carbon neutral gamer’s livestream event. Among the exciting reveals, which includes the new Kraken V3 Pro headset and Enki – touted as “the most comfortable gaming chair ever created”, was the announcement of a new collaboration with luxury watchmaker Panerai.

“We have great ambitions around sustainability, but we also know that while there’s plenty we can do, we can’t do it all alone,” said Tan, who wore a Panerai watch (his own) at the virtual event. “That’s why collaboration is key for us at Razer, and we are thrilled to partner with Panerai on very important initiatives that will not only benefit consumers, but also the planet,” he added.

The partnership is part of Razer’s #GoGreenWithRazer initiative, a 10-year sustainability roadmap that ensures that its business remains sustainable for the planet. It is also perfectly aligned with Panerai’s eco-conscious watchmaking ambitions. Earlier this year, the watchmaker unveiled a concept watch, the Submersible eLAB-ID PAM 1225, that is largely made of recyclable materials.

The establishment of a new supply chain is testament to the bold steps the watchmaker is taking towards a more sustainable future based on a circular use of natural resources. It also announced its partnership with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO to develop ocean literacy activities as part of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

I believe that each human being can take responsibility and play a part in changing the future and making it more livable and sustainable.

Making an appearance at Razercon was Panerai CEO Jean-Marc Pontroue, who emphasised the importance of a global collective effort to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. He was joined by the brand’s sustainability ambassadors, explorer Mike Horn, entrepreneur Jeremy Jauncey, and actor Li Yifeng, as well as Francesca Santoro, Programme Specialist at IOC UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture, who collectively echoed the importance of ocean conservation.

The highlight of the partnership was the announcement of a limited-edition, co-branded timepiece (designed by both Panerai and Razer) made from sustainable materials that will be unveiled in March 2022. Here’s a sneak peek:
