We hate to break it to you, but the Lunar New Year celebrations begin in about a week’s time. This means that you’ve got about seven (working) days to get your house in order, your meals prepped, and your angpaos wrapped and ready to go.

To help you check off one more item from your to-do list, we’ve sussed out eight of our favourite fashion collections that are coming out just in time for the Lunar New Year.

After all, one should not start the year off on a bad outfit, don’t you agree?

01 | Burberry

Bringing Burberry’s streetwear-meets-high fashion aesthetics to this capsule collection, expect plenty of stylish options that you can wear for all your festivities. For the gents, a red tracksuit or a pair of red sneakers ensure that you’re looking spiffy all the time, while women get to flex their style cred in tailored shirts, airy blouses and a selection of leather goods.

02 | Dior

For their Lunar New Year capsule collection, expect to find some of Dior’s classic bags and RTW looks reinterpreted with Asian-inspired prints. The key motif is the soaring phoenix, and it appears across the collection of bags, jewellery, and shoes. As an added touch of tactility, some of the prints also feature beads that are delicately applied to the flowers to create a more dimensional look.

03 | Chloe

Teaming up with painter Julie Verhoeven, Chloe’s Lunar New Year capsule collections feature a series of adorable cartoon mice on the house’s signature line of bags, shoes, and clothing. A majority of the pieces feature versatile shades of cream, red and beige that also double up as canvasses for Verhoeven’s energetic brushstrokes and colourful splotches of paint. Our pick? A t-shirt fronted by a trio of mice, all carrying Chloe bags.

04 | Gucci

Fans of the iconic Disney character Mickey Mouse will look forward to this collection from Gucci. Comprising of both menswear and womenswear, as well as complete accessories and leather goods ranges for both genders, the Gucci Lunar New Year collection co-opts your beloved Mickey Mouse and turns him into hype-worthy collectibles.

05 | MCM

German luxury streetwear brand MCM takes the cheese for the cutest Lunar New Year collection this year. Inspired by Chinese logic puzzles, the designs all feature a geometrical mouse face engaging in all kinds of mischief. Whether it’s winking at you from a t-shirt or gleefully snacking on a slice of cheese, you can find these rodent characters on MCM’s line of bags, shoes and clothing.

06 | Loewe

If you’re positively allergic to all the red that shows up this time of the year, Loewe has the perfect antidote for you. The Spanish house’s signature bag silhouettes get a colourful update as part of the Pre-Spring 2020 collection, making them perfect for the occasion without having to look like a walking red packet. We’ve got our hearts (and wallets) set on the Cushion Tote, which comes in a cheery yellow daisy print.

07 | Mulberry

Just because you have to wear red, doesn’t mean you should sacrifice some smidgen of looking cool. Mulberry offers you a quick way to get stylish this Lunar New Year, thanks to its Pre-Spring 2020 collection. The main pattern used is a red tartan (very apropos) that gets interpreted with a healthy dose of studs and chains. Reminiscent of London punks in the ’80s, this is certainly one way to shake up your Lunar New Year style.

08 | Tod’s

Even though this special collection doesn’t have as much breadth as some of the other brands, Tod’s has created the perfect collection for the Lunar New Year. Its usual fare of bags and leather goods gets redone with bright pops of red, and features leather charms in the shape of a rat for that subtle nod to the festive period. There are also bracelets that come complete with various whimsical charms to complete your look.
