“The Trilogy Vitamin C Facial At Aramsa Spa Gave Me Brighter And Firmer Skin For Days”

Skincare is no longer just about self-care; it’s now a matter of self-confidence and self-preservation.

One hard lesson Covid-19 taught many women: never become complacent about skincare. Maskne, caused by prolonged use of face masks – warm, moist air trapped within promotes bacterial growth and skin barrier breakdown – has made our skin more sensitive and vulnerable to other skin conditions such as eczema.

Combination skin type, such as mine, hasn’t fared well at all. As soon as breakouts along the jawline cleared, the cheeks and nose started to flake. Concealer got me through many meetings but stained my masks (both tangible and figurative). Skincare no longer was just about self-care; it was a matter of self-confidence and self-preservation.

Aramsa The Garden Spa does an excellent job of dissipating such feelings. The team understands distress very well: last May the spa in Bishan Park 2 lost over 100 pet fish to hungry otters that stole into its premises. But within these lush, landscaped environs, with the occasional rustling of leaves by the breezes as the only soundtrack, your senses run wild with joy as memories of spacations past flash by.

All this very quickly puts you in the zone for the Aramsa Touch Massage. A signature treatment that fuses Eastern meridian and Western classical techniques, this 60-mins experience beckons you into a blissful realm with gentle strokes by the therapist. I let out a little squeal when her fingers start kneading my shoulders and proceed to work on a latent knot. “Too tight,” she laughs.

Next comes the Trilogy Vitamin C Facial Treatment. Not on the spa’s regular menu, this facial treatment is available exclusively here only until 30 June 2021. Trilogy, an organic skincare brand from New Zealand best known for formulas infused with rosehip oil, recently rolled out a Vitamin C range.

Vitamin C, an antioxidant that promotes collagen production, has shown to improve skin plumpness and minimise visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. Applied topically, the brand purposes, it can reduce visibility of pigmentation and even out skin tone to bring about a smoother and brighter complexion.

Just before I leave the room, I take a look in the mirror. My complexion looks noticeably brighter and smoother, but what I love most about the results is, it feels firmer. I scrutinise it further to check for flaky bits around the tips of my nose or above my upper lip – and find nothing (and for the next five days when I post this review)! Even the roughness on my left cheek, where slight hyperpigmentation hints at the presence of a pimple a week ago, has been smoothened out.
