With more and more countries opening up, one major fashion trend that’s making a return once again is destination fashion shows with a live audience. Dior — having a penchant for out-of-Paris shows for its pre-collections — will be making its debut in South Korea this weekend.
The Dior fall 2022 runway show won’t be held in just any event space in Seoul, South Korea. The fashion house has partnered up with the Ewha Womans University — one of the most prestigious universities in the world and the country’s first modern school for women — and will be the site of the fashion show. In statement released, the partnership signals the strengthening of ties between the house and South Korea “to work hand in hand in preserving shared values, to inspire and nurture our future leaders, empowering women to promote gender equality in the community and to create a sustainable society for all.”
Dior is one of many fashion houses that has been ramping up on its focus on South Korea. Jisoo of K-pop girl group Blackpink has been named as one of the house’s global ambassadors since March 2021, an evolution of the star’s partnership with Dior that started in 2019. And with the Dior fall 2022 show happening in Seoul, there’s no doubt that she will be one of the faces gracing the event.
