It wouldn’t be Paris Fashion Week — men’s or women’s — without Hermès. The storied luxury house is a constant fixture on the fashion week schedule and it’s ready to present its spring/summer 2023 menswear collection.
Ever since the spring/summer 2021 menswear season, artistic director Véronique Nichanian has been partnering with director Cyril Teste in conceptualising, at first, Hermès men’s digital presentations and subsequently its live runway shows. Teste is set to once again be involved with the scenography of the spring/summer 2023 runway show. But how that would look like is something we’d have to all wait for.
What’s apparent from teasers of the spring/summer 2023 menswear show is the use of celadon — a colour that sits somewhere between green and blue. It’s a colour that Hermès has been using quite often in its men’s universe, and most prominently in the spring/summer 2022 collection. In the teaser, it appears in the form of a lightweight raincoat colour-blocked with brown.
While it may not be a key defining colour of the house (Hermès orange is pretty much iconic to the brand), it’ll be interesting to see if it’s a colour that will be heavily used throughout the spring/summer 2023 menswear collection. Given the increasing use of a key colour as a branding tool for fashion houses of late, we won’t be surprise if Hermès were to decide to do just that.
