Hallyu fans, you know her from television dramas like It’s Okay That’s Love (2014), The Master’s Sun (2013) and The Greatest Love (2011). Korean actress Kong Hyo-Jin is the latest face to join Piaget’s star-studded list of ambassadors, which include familiar names like Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Chastain and Hu Ge.
The award-winning actress chameleon is celebrated for her ability to immerse herself in her film and television roles, earning her numerous acting awards such as Best Actress at the Korean Film Awards and Director’s Cut Awards. Her latest film, The Most Ordinary Romance, co-starring Korean actor Kim Rae Won, will see the 39-year-old lead actress reclaiming her title as the queen of Korean romantic comedies.
In the new marketing campaign celebrating her role as Piaget’s new brand ambassador for Asia Pacific, Kong is photographed as she goes about her day – enjoying an afternoon with her friends, browsing books at a book store and posing for a photoshoot. Dressed in a yellow knit top, an effervescent Kong wears jewellery and watches from Piaget’s Possession, Sunlight, Limelight and Altiplano collections. “I am inspired by the beautiful stories behind each Piaget creation, how design and craftsmanship are so important,” says Kong.
Although the style icon is reticent about her favourite Piaget piece, saying that she “loves them all and can’t choose”, she eventually reveals that she is partial towards the versatile Possession rings and the diamond-studded Limelight Gala watch.

What attracted you to work with Piaget?
I really admire the dedication and craftsmanship that Piaget puts into creating its products. The history and stories I hear about each creation are beautiful and amazing. How does Piaget’s tagline “The Sunny Side of Life” resonate with you?
My “Sunny Side of Life” is my family, friends, acting and my three dogs. They all bring so much joy and positive energy to my life and cast a sunny light on me.
What is your best source of inspiration?
I have always had a keen interest on what’s happening around the world. When I am relaxed and stress-free, I am inspired by many things, predominantly nature and people. I tend to observe everything that is happening around me, especially when I travel. This absolutely relaxes me!
As an actress, how do you prepare for your roles in movies and dramas?
It is important to immerse myself in the character and to think about the specific situations that shape the character. As an actress, I am always uncovering and searching for new ways to present a character that is always fresh for the audience. I do not want to use things or references that are common to our everyday life.
You’re a celebrated style icon. Care to share a personal tip on your approach to accessorising with jewellery or watches?
A piece of jewellery or a watch can certainly elevate an outfit. I usually select these after I have put on the outfit. Having the right creation can complete the look or give the look a totally new vibe and provide a sense of confidence to the person.
How do you define the Piaget woman?
I think the Piaget woman embodies many characteristics: She is independent, confident, humble, continues to improve herself, gives back and wants to share joy with others. I see myself as being all that.
