How do you get women to dream again? For Roger Vivier’s Gherardo Felloni, the answer is simple: You channel their fantasies, desires and passions into the fanciest footwear styles. “Dreams are a metaphor for reality,” Felloni said in a statement. Which explains why for the new season, the Creative Director conjured a whimsical dreamscape and filled it with exquisite shoes fit for the contemporary go-getter to take powerful strides in.
For a House as storied as Roger Vivier, Felloni naturally dove into its archives for inspiration. He emerged with several newfangled interpretations of its classic styles. For example, a curved heel from the ‘60s that was originally inspired by 18th-century pumps is now reimagined in a modern pump bedecked with an elegant bow. Felloni also played up the masculine-feminine dichotomy with hardy boots constructed from sumptuous fabrics such as velvet and satin.
Another centrepiece of the latest collection is the brand’s new Beau Vivier, a structured bag whose shape is achieved through special techniques passed down from one generation to the next. It is the embodiment of craft, style and substance. The removable shoulder strap and top handle make it a versatile accessory for the modern-day woman.
