As if predicting all the doom and gloom right now, designers are offering up a bit of relief in the form of bright colours for Pre-Fall 2020. In a welcome departure from the typically bland and dark Pre-Fall seasons of yesteryears, palettes this year are spilling over with vibrant, happy hues. To help you navigate through the dizzying spectrum of colours that are making us swoon, here are five key shades to watch for.

01 | Lemon yellow

Think of this as your dose of vitamin C to combat the doldrums. At Valentino, a frothy feathered frock is whimsical and dreamy, while MSGM’s oversized florals are just asking to be worn out on our next vacation (whenever that may be). As if the colour wasn’t bright enough, Gucci’s sequinned gown shimmers and sparkles with every move.

02 | Mint

A sprinkling of refreshing mint helps you keep your cool. Givenchy’s softly-tailored shirt and pants feels like an effortless look for the workplace, while a minty top at 3.1 Phillip Lim is paired with a flared skirt and lilac mules.

03 | Tomato red

Add a bit of zing back into your OOTDs with a bright dash of tomato red. Dior’s bustier dress gives you the perfect number to wear on those special evenings, while Daniel Lee at Bottega Veneta reimagines utilitarian shapes in passionate red.

04 | Cobalt blue

A counterpoint to all the warm colours this season, cobalt blue is perhaps the most neutral shade of the season. At Louis Vuitton, it’s rendered in a sporty top tucked into swingy mini skirt. Max Mara’s ’80s-inspired collection sees a bright blue maxi skirt worn with a casual striped tee, while Valentino’s porcelain-inspired dresses are perfect for glamorously lounging around at home.

05 | Bubblegum pink

Ever since the world discovered millennial pink several seasons ago, fashion has intermixed this feminine colour into each season’s palette. This Pre-Fall 2020, the focus turns to bubblegum pink. Chanel’s pantsuit is a modern reflection of contemporary tailoring, while Prada counters the saccharine colour with a bright green blouse.
